Bringing business owners together to explore what it means to build a business that works for our lives. This year, we’re talking about how we experience what we’re building and how that experience shapes our work.
You’re building your business one decision at a time.
You’re already intentional about what you’re building. But it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day, buried in your to-do list and following whatever opportunities come up. And for many of us, the actual experience of running our business isn’t quite as joyous or flexible as we imagined.
The moca conference brings service-based solopreneurs together to think more deeply about what we’re building, have good conversations with seasoned business owners, and gain some perspective on how to get where we want to go.
2026 Conference

The first Moca Conference was SO much fun. We spent the day having real conversations about how to filter the information coming at us and make more intentional, aligned decisions. We spent time in discussion groups, guided reflection, and fun connection events. And we left with smiles on our faces.

2027 Conference
The experience of building a business.
We’re bringing back the moca-style format from 2026. Instead of keynotes, we’ll have conversations with insightful guest speakers followed by guided reflection and small group discussions to process what we’ve heard. Part conference in nature, part retreat, there will be plenty of time to think, chat, and connect.

Following the virtual conference, I’m bringing a small group of business owners together in Boise for a weekend of continued conversations and meaningful connections.
We’ll take the ideas from the conference a little further, exploring what they mean for our own businesses and making some thoughtful decisions about what we want to build. We’re keeping the group small so everyone has the opportunity to participate and build relationships that extend beyond the weekend.
Friday Evening
Welcome dinner and connecting.
If you get into town before dinner, then we’ll come up with some Boise adventure plans. Go to lunch with Jess, walk on the greenbelt… the sky is the limit.
Saturday
We’ll spend the day together in facilitated conversations, group discussions, and reflection. You’ll have time to work through your own ideas and challenges, hear different perspectives from other experienced business owners, and make some thoughtful decisions about what comes next.
We’ll share meals in cozy spaces, have some opportunities to see some of Boise, and welcome a couple of surprise guest speakers.

All meals between Friday evening and Sunday morning are included, and Jess is very much looking forward to hosting. Did you know Jess has a random background in event planning? Yeah… this has been coming for a while.
Travel and accommodations are not included, but if people are interested, we may coordinate a shared lodging option to make planning a little easier.

Meet Jess
Jess Hershey is the founder of moca, a connector and facilitator who brings thoughtful business owners together to explore the questions behind the work. Jess spent ten years building a marketing agency and working alongside hundreds of business owners before transitioning back to solopreneurship. Today, she uses that experience in her work as a Seasonal Business Partner, helping intentional business owners make thoughtful decisions and build businesses that support the lives they want to live.

What does “moca” mean?
Moca is a nod to the Hershey last name and the idea of finding peace in your work. When Moca first started, we would talk about slow mornings in a cozy chair with a great cup of coffee. The word “moca” became a synonym for working in a way that still had room for life.
