Chris Trout

Author, Speaker, Coach, and Founder of Lead Differently.

Chris Trout is a thought-leader, writer, and coach who draws from a rich, 5-decade exploration of resilience, hidden strengths, positive psychology, and the art of seeing the unseen in ourselves and others. His ciruitous journey has taken him from running an undergraduate Music Therapy degree program to traveling North America as a speaker and teacher on resilience and strengths-focused thinking, with stops in family mediation, substance abuse prevention, executive and life coaching, a book, a 10-hour audio series called Loving Life 101, more than 700 blog posts, and 200+ videos.

Through it all, he has thrived as a creator and innovator, founding numerous programs and organizations along the way. All of this fades in comparison to his love of being a father — to Alex, now 38, and Zoe, 30. He continues this journey from his home near the coast of southern Maine, where he lives with his wife of 40 years, Suzanne.

First, See Differently

“First, See Differently” is for thoughtful, innovative leaders (in every part of life) who are ready to think beyond the latest tips, tricks, and strategies to “see the unseen” in the people they lead — hidden strengths, underlying motivations, and new possibilities for growth and transformation. I’ll share illuminating stories, ask new questions, and create space for deep insights.

Reflecting Strengths

My book, Reflecting Strengths: 35 reflections on the art of fostering resilience in our children – and ourselves, is an inspired collection of 35 stories and reflections on fostering resilience in children and young people through a strengths-focused perspective. Throughout the book, you’ll be able to put these ideas to work through questions and exercises designed to empower you on your journey.
