MOCA is pursuing the idea of intentional business. We help our clients achieve a balanced lifestyle and a successful business side by side. Our clients chase their vision in a thoughtful way, building their businesses for the purpose of creating a life that they love.

MOCA company culture prioritizes flexibility, work-life balance and working within your strengths. Our team was hand-selected for their passion and enthusiasm as individuals, and then trained to be experts in business support. Many of our team members balance MOCA work with school, travel, family, and pursuing their own passions.

MOCA offers business services and strategic support for entrepreneurs and small companies. We handle projects that our clients don’t have time to do or don’t want to do and allow them to work within their strengths. We are a relationship-focused business that has grown almost entirely on referrals. Our workflow:Our internal team structure allows us to handle our projects with care. Multiple team members review each project through the lens of their expertise. When new clients come in, they are assigned to a connector. Our connectors are our project managers that serve as the main point of communication with clients. When a client submits a task, the connector sets up a project in our backend project management system. Then the project is handed off to the creator on the team whose skills are best suited for the job. The creator doesn’t have direct communication with the client, they will just be provided with what they need. Once the creator is done with the project, it goes through our editors to check for errors. Then it returns to the connector and is sent back to the client for review.We are a growing business and we are constantly evolving. At this point, our team is made up of creators, editors, connectors and administrators, but new positions and opportunities will be added as we continue to grow. New positions in the business have been creating specifically for the team members who have been with us for a while. We want each person to thrive in what they enjoy the most, because that’s when we do our best work.

Working at home may sound like a dream job… and to be honest, it mostly is. But that doesn’t mean it’s for everyone! Some people find aspects of the job to be difficult.

Here are a few things to consider before you decide this is the job for you:

Some people can’t sit in front of a computer for very long.It sounds funny, but this has come up more than once. This job does require using a computer. How long are you comfortable sitting in front of your computer? How long are you comfortable sitting in front of your computer when it’s a sunny day outside and you technically don’t have to work?

We are a team of problem solvers, and we are constantly learning new things.At this point in the business, creators need to be pretty self-sufficient. You use your own equipment and are often asked to problem-solve and self-train. Creators who have a desire to learn and an ability to google things and figure out new programs will do well. This job is a constant stream of learning new things! You build confidence in certain areas and it comes easier, but the learning will always continue. We are working on developing resources to help you get to know the client and training opportunities within the business, and you can always ask for training in a specific area. But most of the role is a “throw you in and figure it out” kind of model, with questions encouraged : ) This isn’t a job for people who prefer clear cut, easy instructions. There is always going to be a new program to learn, a new client voice to master, a missing piece of instruction where you have to do your best to fill in the gaps. Questions are always welcome, but a lot of this job is teaching yourself and googling how to videos. We are looking for go-getters, problem solvers and people who like to learn.

Some people find it very difficult to manage their time.I’m pretty sure this has been a struggle for every person who has ever worked at MOCA, including me. Having complete freedom with your schedule can be challenging. Two hours of work can quickly turn into four with bathroom breaks, snack breaks, and puppy breaks. Are you able to organize your time and stay disciplined? Or at least, are you ready to have that as a challenge and work on it? I have tips on how to conquer it!

Some people struggle working at home.It’s true. It sounds like a dream come true, but then some people find it to be a bit of a bummer. It can feel isolating since you don’t have much contact with the team at all and when you do, it’s not in person. Do you need to have social interaction at work? It’s important to note that most of the work that you do will be done independently. We do have occasional team forums and I will reach out to you for check in meetings, but it’s quite different than working in an office and interacting with team members regularly. Most of the time you will be working on projects and submitting them without much outside interaction. We are working on a better system for feedback, but at this point you may not know how a project was received by a client unless you follow up and ask (which you are always welcome to do!).
